Founder and leadership

New Era Skills was founded as a nonprofit in 2025 in response to a growing gap between the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and the ability of traditional education and workforce systems to help learners adapt. Since the advent of ChatGPT and AI methods since 2022, it was increasingly clear that many workers and students lacked accessible pathways to reskill for an AI-driven economy. The organization was created to expand opportunity for every learner by combining research, practice, and technology to make high-quality, AI-enabled learning more accessible and scalable. Prior to founding the organization, its Director, Dr. Nitin Jain, led federally funded research programs in biochemistry, biophysics, and structural biology as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While teaching undergraduate biology courses, he focused on improving student engagement through active learning and educational technology. In 2014, he developed a personalized narrative-based teaching method that used multi-step process analogies to connect scientific concepts with real-world processes. This approach later evolved into narrative-based case studies for applied learning and has since been enhanced with AI tools such as ChatGPT, resulting in several publications and teaching awards. Dr. Jain has collaborated with education and AI researchers to refine this evidence-based approach and help other educators adopt narrative-driven, active learning strategies. What began as classroom innovation has since expanded into a broader initiative—supporting research, reskilling programs, and AI-enabled learning tools designed to help educators personalize learning and prepare students for an AI-powered future.

We are actively seeking academic, industry, and community partners to collaborate with us in advancing this mission and expanding access to AI-enabled education and reskilling opportunities..
